Influence of Informal Learning on the Job Performance of Non-Teaching Staff in Universities in Southwest, Nigeria

Abstract

This study examined the influence of informal learning on the task performance, contextual performance, and job performance of non-teaching staff in universities in Southwest, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised all non-teaching staff in universities in Southwest, Nigeria. The sample for the study comprised 440 non- teaching staff members from six universities using the multi-stage sampling technique. Data were collected using two research instruments. The data were analysed using simple percentage, Chi-square, and Pearson Correlation. It was discovered that informal learning had a significant influence on the task, contextual, and job performance, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient indicated that there is a positive correlation between task, contextual, and job performance and informal learning. The study, therefore, concluded that there is a significant influence of informal learning on the job performance of non- teaching staff in universities in Southwest, Nigeria.
