Abstract

This paper is an empirical review which provided understand of the contribution of adult educators in promoting and developing learning cities and learning communities in Nigeria. This was with a view to ascertaining how far adult educators have gone in fulfilling the roles of developing and advancing learning cities and communities. The study utilised the findings of other research works from different scholars about the roles adult educators have performed so far in Nigeria. The paper showed that adult educators in Nigeria have performed several roles which have promoted advancement in different areas of the society. However, the roles of adult education in terms of industrialization are yet to materialise in the lives of adult learners in Nigeria. This is because a form of retrogression exists in the area of economy and technology, which is very rare in nations with functional adult education programmes.
