Abstract

This study examined the impact of radio literacy on the promotion of digital learning in rural communities of Delta State, Nigeria. Survey research design was used to conduct the study and three research questions guided the study. The study population comprised senior secondary school students and teachers in Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Areas. Simple and stratified random sampling techniques were used to select 300 students and 50 teachers as sample. For data collection, a 12-item structured questionnaire was designed, and it was validated by two research experts. Reliability test was conducted using test-retest method and a co-efficient score of 0.81 was obtained. Copies of the questionnaire were distributed to respondents by the researchers and four research assistants. Out of the 350 copies of the questionnaire, 320 were used for analysis. Data obtained were analysed using frequency counts, percentage, and mean scores. The study found, among others, that radio literacy can be used effectively to promote digital learning in rural communities. It was recommended that the State Government should review radio programmes to facilitate digital learning in rural communities.
